Because the name of this store was so unique, this was a fairly easy photograph to identify.
After doing a Google search for “Christ Baldus” I found a reference to the Christ Baldus Department Store. A search for this term brought up a few items. However, none of them included a street address.
When I dropped the name Christ from the search term, I found an August 6, 1958 article from the Pittsburgh Press that included the street address – 800 Pittsburgh Street in Springdale, PA.
The most recent mention of the store I was able to find was the 1968 West Deer High School Yearbook (Russellton, PA) that included an advertisement.
CURRENT PHOTOGRAPHS
Here are a couple Google images of 800 Pittsburgh Street in Springdale, PA, that show the empty lot where the store once stood. The second photo shows a view down the narrow street that was in the original photo.
The hills in the background seem to be the only thing the “then & now” photos have in common.
